Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting an Events and Engagement Adviser to join the Academic Engagement team on a permanent, full-time basis, working primarily with Te Wāhanga Aronui - Wellington Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The role will be responsible for developing and delivering Faculty events and engagement activities to deepen the Faculty’s engagement with the public, stakeholders, alumni, benefactors and communities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Events and event-related project management.
  • Development and delivery of high-quality events and engagement activities that enhance the faculty’s profile.
  • Events and engagement advice.
  • Internal and external relationship management.
  • Maintain administrative processes and systems, including keeping accurate records and up to date documentation.

You will:

  • Be a motivated, audience-led individual who can take the initiative as well as understands and believes in the importance of client service when delivering events.

Key requirements:

  • Proven events and project management experience.
  • Understanding of event and engagement best practice.
  • Experience using online tools to enhance engagement activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage periods of peak workload.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, as after-hours work is required for some events from time to time.
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Level of familiarity with the technical aspects of presenting music events.
  • Proven ability to plan and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to present with internal and external stakeholders in a professional and credible manner.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships.
