Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

The Convenor provides leadership of the University’s human ethics policies, procedures and approval processes for human ethics research. It is a visible role that provides advice and manages any issues and complaints as they arise and ensures that the University’s research meets high ethical standards. The role holder works closely with the Ethics Advisers and the Manager, Research Ethics and Integrity in Te Tari Rangahau - Research Office.

Applications are invited from academic staff within the University who have experience of chairing committees and who have been on an ethics committee previously at this, or another University.

The role is 0.4 FTE and your Tumuaki - Head of School must support your application.

Key Requirements:

  • Hold an academic position within the University.
  • Have a strong interest in responsible research, ethics and integrity.
  • Be skilled at chairing academic committees to reach consensus decisions.
