Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is recruiting a Mata Ahupae - Centre Administrator for Te Tātai Hauora o Hine - The National Centre for Women’s Health Research Aotearoa. This fixed-term, full-time role will be responsible for delivering high quality, effective and efficient administrative services to the Centre and its team of health researchers. It requires a level of flexibility and ability to integrate individual duties with the work of others to achieve team goals in a busy work environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to Principal Investigators, Project Managers and liaisons including drafting employment contracts and raising purchasing orders, making travel/accommodation bookings and undertaking other administrative activities as required to ensure the smooth running of the Centre.
  • Provide support for Centre events and functions.
  • Triage enquiries received to Centre email addresses and ensure prompt, informed responses are given.
  • Assist with drafting, editing, and formatting correspondence, reports, formal documentation, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Manage day-to-day office requirements of Te Tātai Hauora o Hine - The National Centre for Women’s Health Research Aotearoa.

You will:

  • Thrive working in busy and collaborative environments, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism in relationships with staff and Centre students.
  • Clearly and concisely communicate with a wide range of people in all situations, both orally and in writing.
  • Effectively listen and understand cultural differences in regard to communication, and consider equity and diversity issues in interactions.

Key requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Values working within a Māori-focused environment.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office including Word, Excel PowerPoint and MS Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to work under time pressure.
  • An adaptive “can do” approach and an ability to tackle a variety of tasks.
